Melbourne-based · Zoom sessions Australia-wide
I help couples break the argument cycle and feel close again. Both of you get heard, including the partner who didn't want to come.
Most of my work is with individuals and couples. When helpful, couples counselling can also include individual sessions.
Everything I do is grounded in attachment: how we connect, how we reach for each other, and what happens when closeness feels unsafe.
Prefer to practise on your own? Try Equilibrium, my online Qigong and somatic regulation course.
That's one of the most common ways couples start. Often the hesitant one doesn't have much to say, but knows something's off.
A lot of my work is helping men open up, so I know how to make the room feel safe for the partner who's sceptical. Nobody gets ganged up on. Nobody has to perform.

A quick chat on Zoom or phone to see if we're a good fit. Either of you, or both.

We begin with separate sessions before coming together for couples counselling. This gives each of you space to explore what you're feeling and work through longstanding emotions and patterns, so you can approach each other with greater understanding and less blame.

Meet Michael
I'm a Melbourne-based relationship therapist working with couples across Australia on Zoom. I help partners understand the attachment patterns that drive their arguments, so they can stop circling and start reaching for each other again.
I hold a Bachelor of Psychology and a Master of Counselling. My couples work is grounded in attachment theory, and I use acupressure/EFT to help you settle when things get heated.
